A situation has arisen regarding tree safety on housing land adjacent to Pantgwynlais, Tongwynlais. A local resident was concerned that the coping was slipping and we raised it with council officers.
There are 6 self sown trees which are undermining the stone wall, two of which have been hit by passing vehicles and the remaining Elm trees are suffering from Dutch Elm disease.
A survey of trees undertaken by the Parks department has recommended the immediate removal of these trees and the ‘leggy’ specimens of self sown Ash and Acer growing behind.
The removed trees will be replaced with 3 native trees of Hawthorne and Field Maple.
