We have received the following notice from Natural Resources Wales

Fforest Fawr Operations Update

Work on upgrading our planned footpath diversion around forthcoming felling operations will take place between May 8thand May 25thto minimise disruption during the holiday periods at the beginning and end of May.

The footpath diversion is broadly along the route of the existing sculpture trail and will take visitor traffic away from the existing forest road when felling operations commence later in the year currently scheduled to be at the start of September 2018. When the upgrading works take place in May the trail will remain but visitors should be aware that the machinery operations are ongoing on site

When felling commences the car park will now be closed for a period of three weeks, not two as previously stated. This is to ensure that the two areas of tree felling nearest the footpath diversion are completed in order that the diversion can be opened safely without risk to the general public. This is a failsafe timeline. If these areas are completed earlier then we would then look to open up the car park earlier than stated.

We plan to hold a “Drop in” session in Tongwynlais in June 2018. We have no confirmed date as yet as we would like to be able to have the most accurate, latest information available.

The new sculpture trail has now been installed and is ready for the public to enjoy.
